Simia Ahmadi

Ms. Simia Ahmadi is Swiss and Iranian, and is currently the International Federation for 
Human Rights (FIDH) Representative to the United Nations in Geneva (January 2006-present). 
She started human rights work at the United Nations Centre for Human Rights as an intern in 1993. 
She is the former Nordic Representative of FIDH (Stockholm, 1994-1997), the FIDH East 
African Coordinator (Kampala, 1997-2001), and worked nationally as Head of the Monitoring 
Unit and Programme Director at the  Legal and Human Rights Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (2001-2003). 

She is also co-founder/board member of the Martin Ennals Award for Human Rights Defenders, 
and serves on the jury for the FIDH. She has also worked for the Raoul Wallenberg Institute on 
numerous occasions on training and evaluation briefs.
