Hildegard Kiel Hildegard Kiel spent her childhood in mainland Tanzania and returned to work in Zanzibar in the year 2000. She has a degree in music performance and music therapy and she has worked in music promotion and management since 1995 in various organizations in Germany, Austria, Tanzania, Kenia, Egypt and Pakistan. In 2007 she conducted research on the origins of Zanzibar Taarab music in Egypt on a fulbright scholarship. Hildegard Kiel is the founding director of the Dhow Countries Music Academy (DCMA), for which she was awarded the BBC World Music Award, Category Movers and Shakers in 2007. Hildegard furthermore is a member of the Board of Busara Promotions.
