Arabic Instrumental Master Class June 28 - July 3 2002 Teacher: Alfred Gamil (with Quitharah, Egypt) Participants from the master class above were divided into 5 groups which each received intensive instrumental training. For three days intensive instrumental training took place in violin, ney, percussion, oud and ganun. Each of the 5 members from the group Quitharah is an outstanding instrumentalist. At the end of those three days, all students performed one piece together on stage at Forodhani gardens. The performnace was short but received tremendously well by the public. The rapport that was established between the musicians was exceptional and musically it proved how closely connected Zanzibar's roots are with Egypt. |
