"Save our Music" Children Concert in Forodhani Garden in Zanzibar with all the 200 children from all the schools where DCMA is teaching music.

Together with artists from TASUBA in Bagamoy DMCA teachers and students are invited to perform at the Tanzanian Pavilion at the EXPO in Shanghai.

Famous Taarab singer Bi Kidude performed at the BRAVE Festival in Poland, accompanied by DCMA teachers Mahsin Basalama and Mohammed Othman.

DCMA qanun teacher Rajab Suleiman performed with Shakila Saidi at the World Sacred Music Festival in Fes.

In cooperation with DCMA Siga & Sekembuke, two zumari players from
Zanzibar were on tour in Austria, playing with the Windhund musicians in
Linz, Graz and Vienna.

Third exchange visit of the “Songs of the Moon”-Project between DCMA and the Comoros Islands. In this visit two young musicians from Comoros, Abdérémane Chanfi (oud) and Mohamed Youssouf Tarik (guitar) came for a workshop to Zanzibar, accompanied by well-known Comorian gambus player Boinariziki Mouhimidi. A workshop presentation at the DCMA concluded the workshop

Workshop with Juma Sheta on traditional rhythms and percussion. This was the third workshop in a series of workshops with veteran Zanzibar musicians organized by DCMA.

Second exchange visit of the “Songs of the Moon”-Project. 4 teachers from DCMA went to hold a workshop the local radio station “Studio 1” in Moroni. At the end, a concert was performed at the French Cultural Centre in Moroni.
Projects:
July 2010
Teachers Matona, Rajab Suleiman and Mahsin Baslama received their Diploma of Music Certificates after completing all the requirement. Teacher Excel Michael Haonga finishe already in the previous year. New diploma candidates will be selected later in the year.
Sept./Oct. 2010
DCMA student Ismail Muhsin will study instrument building at the Conservatory for Turkish Music in Berlin. He already received training in string instrument repair.
